De Kat II

(The Cat II)

This drawing was made to honor Pablo Picasso and follows on from the previous work ‘The Cat I’, exploring and expressing the dual nature of cats through use of flowing lines, depth and contrast.

This particular exploration on the theme focuses on the cat’s tail, placed prominently in the foreground, shaded in black to give a depth to the drawing, and forming the main connection between the legs and head. As a result, the deformed head and the large, round body recede into the background.
